Megamind: Delightful and wholly fascinating !

Rating: 3.5/5

Here is everything which can lay hold of the eye, ear and imagination - everything which can charm everybody, yes everybody.

Makers of “Shrek” & “Kung-fu-panda” have come up this time with the most popular saga with animation movies, i.e. evil vs. good. But there are lot of twists and turns in it which keeps you & your brain occupied throughout.

Blue headed disgustingly horrible Megamind is the one who is ignored by the world and his frustration leads him to become a Villian. He is a kind of a Villian whose every possible plan is damn predictable & asinine. Though somehow out-of-blue his plan works one day (in disguise) and in a metro city which is guarded by dashing and muscular Metro man (voiced by Brad Pitt), he defeats the hero. Amazingly, he is sad about it. With that uncharacteristic note, story moves ahead with lots of jolts.

Megamind (voiced by Will Farrell) creates a Villian with whom he can fight endlessly. In the time being, he falls in love with Roxanne Richi (voiced by Tina Fey) who possibly later becomes the love interest of that artificial villain. How Megamind sustains his friendship with Manion who supported him in his every stupid plan? How evil turns good? How an ugly creature like Megamind wins love? Those are the axes about which this movie revolves.

An animation movie is never really good unless the camera is an eye in the head of its writer. Must say, it is sharply written and animation is just awesome. 3d effects make it more alluring and ebullient. Metro city is adoringly crafted and fight sequences in it are visually stunning. Both, use of old soundtracks & amusing dialogues add much required glitter to it. Voices from all actors fit snugly and they never miss a beat.

Well, when there is evil, good has to rise up. Consider all other releases this week as evil against whom Megamind stands tall not just by being good, but by being best. This one’s the movie which you should look forward to in the last week of 2010, irrespective of your age!
